Egypt court confirms Morsi death sentence over jailbreak

An Egyptian court sentenced deposed President Mohamed Mursi to death on June 16 on charges of killing, kidnapping and other offences during a 2011 mass jail break. 

The general guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, Mohamed Badie, and four other Brotherhood leaders were also handed the death penalty. More than 80 others were sentenced to death in absentia. 

Council of Europe advisory body concerned about suspension, arrest of two Turkish judges

An advisory body of the Council of Europe (CoE) has expressed grave concerns about the suspension and arrest of two Turkish judges allegedly linked to the Gülen movement, in a statement issued after letters were sent to it by the two judges and complaints were sent by others. 

First hearing in case of brutally murdered girl Özgecan Aslan held in southern Turkey

Defendants indirectly accused each other in the first court hearing on June 12 in the Tarsus district of the Mediterranean province of Mersin in the case into the brutal murder of Özgecan Aslan, the 20-year-old whose body was found in a river bed two days after she was killed by a minibus driver on Feb. 11.

Court cancels access road plans for Istanbul's third bridge

An Istanbul court revoked an amendment on June 11 for the construction plans of the access roads to Istanbul?s third bridge, which is being built in the northern part of the city. The court?s move may halt the bridge?s progress, as the construction of link roads will lose their legal ground.
