Turkey, Iran, Iraq consider joint measures against KRG referendum

Turkey, Iran and Iraq have agreed to consider taking "coordinated counter-measures" against the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government's (KRG) bid to hold independence referendum at a trilateral foreign ministers' meeting in New York, days before the Sept. 25 vote in northern Iraq. 

Turkish Presidency ironically praises Erdoğan's 'valuable' meeting with France's Macron

Following the Sept. 19 meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and French President Emmanuel Macron in New York, the Turkish Presidency issued an ironic message saying "meeting with the President of Turkey is valuable." 

The message came after Macron's recent reported complaint that he "has to speak with Erdoğan every 10 days." 

Turkey mulling sanctions over Iraqi Kurdish referendum: Erdoğan

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan late on Sept. 19 warned of sanctions against the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) if it proceeds with its planned referendum for independence next week. 

"We have always supported" the KRG, Erdoğan told reporters in New York after his address at the U.N. General Assembly.

Erdoğan-Trump meeting promises little

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is scheduled to meet U.S. President Donald Trump in New York on Sept. 21, on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly. Under normal circumstances the expectation would be that something concrete comes out of this meeting, given that we have the leaders of two supposedly strategic partners with common regional and global interests.
