Djuric: Level of trust, capacity for negotiations lowered

BELGRADE - Following unilateral acts by the Pristina authorities, the level of Belgrade's trust in Pristina and its capacity to negotiate in good faith is understandably lower, the head of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija Marko Djuric on Wednesday told Simona-Mirela Miculescu, the representative of the UN Secretary-General and head of the UN Office in Belgrade

"No pressure can force Serbia to recognize Kosovo"

"I trust the UN, to which Serbia has entrusted the care of Kosovo and Metohija in 1999," Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said on Monday.

During a meeting with new UNMIK chief Zahir Tanin and the new chief of the UN Office in Belgrade, Simona-Mirela Miculescu, the president added that he also respects the sovereignty of his own country.

BELGRADE - Serbia is one of the ten highest-ranking European countries takng part in the UN peacekeeping missions around the world, while in the Western Balkans it is the leader in this respect, said Peter Due, head of the UN Office in Belgrade and a representative of the Secretary-General UN Ban Ki -moon in charge of the region.
