Turkish leaders release messages of peace for Srebrenica

Turkey's president and prime minister have released messages of peace on the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre.

8,000 Muslim men and boys were killed in the eastern Bosnian town of Srebrenica by Serb troops in 1995. The massacre in the town, which was declared by the United Nations a safe haven for civilians, was later defined as genocide by two international courts.

Russia Vetoes Srebrenica 'Genocide' Resolution

The United Nations Security Council has failed to pass a resolution which would have called the 1995 massacre in Srebrenica as "genocide".

Russia, a permanent UNSC member, has blocked the resolution which would have coincided with the 20th anniversary since as many as 8000 men and boys were killed by Bosnian Serb troops in 1995.

Serbia gov't agrees to send PM to July 11 Srebrenica commemoration

Serbia's Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on July 7 his government unanimously agreed to send him to a July 11 commemoration of the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, hours after the United Nations Security Council postponed debate over a resolution to mark the 20th anniversary.
