Photographs of today’s refugees sweeping through Syria look remarkably like images snapped years ago.  A dig through the UNICEF photo archives has uncovered a children’s crisis the world thought we would never see again.Sadly, as the gallery shows, it becomes evident that children moving across borders to stay safe is not new.

Turkish Cypriot, Turkish contractors ink deal to renew 'ghost town' Varosha

Turkish Cyprus contractors have inked a deal with their Turkish counterparts to rebuild the "ghost town" of Varosha, as hopes of finding a peaceful solution to the Cyprus issue increased due to the accelerated talks between the leaders of the Turkish and Greek communities on the island.

Expectations are again building for a probable conclusion within a month or so of the talks aimed at creating a "bi-zonal and bi-communal federation" on the eastern Mediterranean island of Cyprus.

World Trade Organization ground-breaking deal for development

The 10th WTO Ministerial Conference, gathered in Nairobi since Tuesday, agreed on Sunday on a global trade deal that benefits developing countries in Africa and around the world by getting rid of trade distorting export subsidies in agriculture. As regards EU producers, they will for the first time see a level playing field in export competition, a key priority for EU negotiators.

Burundi rejects African Union peacekeepers as 'invasion force'

Burundi's government said on Dec. 20 it would not agree to the deployment of African Union (AU) peacekeepers, warning that they would be seen as "an invasion force."

The announcement came a day after the 54-member bloc said it would send a 5,000-strong forced to halt spiraling violence in the tiny central African country as fears grow it is rapidly sliding towards civil war. 

Turkey to move troops from Mosul after Obama's appeal

Turkey has announced its decision to continue to remove its troops from the Bashiqa camp near Mosul after nearly 10 days of tension with the Iraqi government and upon insistent appeals from Washington, which included a phone call from U.S. President Barack Obama to his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdo?an.
