National Council on Climate Change holds first meeting

BEOGRAD - According to the latest climate change mitigation research, Serbia ranks as 73rd among the 192 parties to the United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change, Serbian Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection Snezana Bogosavljevic-Boskovic said Monday, chairing the first meeting of the National Council on Climate Change.

WHO pledges reforms as it admits Ebola mistakes

The World Health Organization's chief on Jan. 25 admitted the UN agency had been caught napping on Ebola and pledged reforms to avoid similar mistakes in future.
      
Despite turning a corner in the fight against Ebola, there was no room for complacency, WHO head Margaret Chan told a rare emergency session of the agency.
      

New UN program sends 54 convoys to Syria

The United Nations says it has carried out 54 aid deliveries to Syrians through newly-authorized convoys from neighboring countries since July, helping around 600,000 people in rebel-held territory.
 
The latest monthly report on the humanitarian situation in Syria will be discussed Jan. 28 at a UN Security Council meeting. 
 

Turkey's return to the Horn of Africa

The name of the first Ottoman diplomat in the Horn of Africa is Ahmet Mazhar Bey, who was appointed as consul general to the Ethiopian city of Harar in 1910s. He was shot dead by colonialists in Djibouti.

The last governor was Burhan Bey, who stayed at this Ottoman province until the French arrived in the 1880s.

BELGRADE -- Serbia will continue to pursue the policy of military neutrality and it will cooperate with all partners in the East and the West, Bratislav Gasic has said.

The defense minister made the statement during his meeting in Belgrade on Friday with Russian Ambassador to Serbia Aleksandr Chepurin.
