Kosovo Leaders Hail Military’s Role in US-Led Defender Exercise

Around 330 members of the Kosovo Security Force took part in the US-led "Defender Europe 21" military exercise on Friday near the western town of Gjakove/Dakovica.

Kosovo Security Force Colonel Ejup Maqedonci specified that for the first time Kosovo was one a host country of such an exercise, one of 16 among a total of 27 participant countries.

UK judge refuses extradition of WikiLeaks founder Assange

A British judge has rejected the United States' request to extradite WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to face espionage charges, saying it would be "oppressive" because of his mental health.

District Judge Vanessa Baraitser said on Jan. 4 Assange was likely to commit suicide if sent to the U.S.

The U.S. government said it would appeal the decision.

New medical air transport brought to Romania

A third air transport carrying medical equipment from South Korea has landed, on Wednesday morning, on the Otopeni Airport with a C-17 Globemaster III airplane. According to the Defence Ministry, the aircraft transported approximately 45 tons of medical protection equipment. The airplane was greeted by Defence Minister Nicolae Ciuca and US Ambassador in Bucharest Adrian Zuckerman.

The US Army has announced that it is stopping the transfer of military personnel and equipment to Europe for the planned military training because of the epidemic from the new coronavirus, BTA reported.

The size of the DEFENDER-Europe 20 exercise has already been reduced, and the US Armed Forces announced this additional measure yesterday.
