Public universities a breeding ground for entrepreneurs
More than 52% (180) of 346 young, successful, innovative entrepreneurs active in Greece and abroad have earned undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from at least one public university in the country, according to Savy.gr, a professional services comparison company.
The National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) stands out with an impressive 24 percent.

The children (and men) of the Piraeus
It is a great honor for me to be speaking tonight at the University of Piraeus. I have devoted much of my professional life to this beautiful and historic port city. Zea, which is the famous harbor next to the university, was, of course, the center of the ancient Athenian fleet. Tens of thousands of working-class Athenians served in this fleet and lived right here in the Piraeus.

Identity of university vandals sought
Authorities at the University of Piraeus are investigating the vandalism of a kiosk belonging to the DAP student union, which is affiliated with ruling New Democracy, on Friday afternoon.
According to witnesses, the vandalism was carried out by hooded assailants.

Anarchists barge into rector's office to protest honor for businessman
Members of the student arm of self-styled anarchist group Rouvikonas barged into the office of the rector of the University of Piraeus on Friday evening to protest a decision by the deanery to bestow an honorary doctorate on a businessman.
The assailants sprayed and painted slogans on the walls, while causing some damages.
