WWII mission to bring Lipizzan horses home revisited in docu
A new Slovenian documentary gives fresh insight into a rescue mission that brought the white Lipizzan horses back to the Lipica stud farm after they were taken by the Germans during the Second World War. The same mission also inspired Walt Disney in the past.
Event marks 77th anniversary of US Army ski race on Mt Mangart
Bovec – A special ceremony on Friday marked 77 years since the 10th Mountain Division of the US Army held a ski race on the slopes of Mt Mangart. The event was followed in the evening by the Slovenian premiere of American filmmaker Chris Anthony’s documentary dedicated to the post-WWII race.
New US Ambassador Harpootlian presents credentials to Pahor
Ljubljana – The new US Ambassador to Slovenia Jamie L. Harpootlian presented her credentials to President Borut Pahor on Thursday, after the US Embassy in Ljubljana was headed by the chargé d’affaires for more than a year. Harpootlian said on the occasion that Slovenia and the US had tremendous opportunities to strengthen their ties in many ways.
Tribute paid to victims of 9/11
Ljubljana – Foreign Minister Anže Logar paid tribute to the victims of the 11 September terrorist attacks on Saturday alongside Susan Falatko, the charge d’affaires at the US Embassy in Ljubljana, as he affirmed Slovenia’s commitment to the prevention of terrorism and radicalisation.

Another US donation to help Slovenia in fight against Covid-19
Ljubljana – The United States has made another donation to Slovenia to help it contain the Covid-19 epidemic, a EUR 270,000-worth shipment of containers delivered to the Slovenian Administration for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief on Wednesday.
