President Klaus Iohannis will be welcomed on Tuesday in Washington DC by his US counterpart Donald Trump, within a working visit that the President is paying to the US. According to the head of state's agenda, he will be welcomed at the White House by the US President at 14:00hrs local time.
President Iohannis, President Trump expected to discuss energy, Visa Waiver in Washington DC
On an official visit to Washington DC on August 19-20, Romania's President Klaus Iohannis will discuss with his US counterpart Donald Trump several important issues, including energy security and the Visa Waiver programme. The meeting occurs at the invitation of President Trump. "This is a meeting that I and President Trump have wanted for some time.
NATO Chief Opens New Unit in Romania
NATO's Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was due in Romania on Thursday on his first official visit, to discuss consolidation of the Alliance's capacities on its eastern flank and open a NATO Force Integration Unit, NFIU.
Stoltenberg was due to meet President Klaus Iohannis, acting Prime Minister Gabriel Oprea and the Foreign and Defence ministers.

NATO Beefs up Weapons in Romania, Bulgaria

The US Defense Secretary Ash Carter on Tuesday announced that Bulgaria, Romania, Poland and Baltic countries have agreed to station NATO heavy equipment on their soil, in a move aimed to strengthen the Alliance's Eastern flank in case of an emergency with Russia.
