IMF chief checks rumors, saying Fund aims to stick with Greece

In an apparent bid to put a stop to speculation about the International Monetary Fund withdrawing conclusively from Greece's rescue program, the head of the Fund, Christine Lagarde, told German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble that the IMF planned to continue its participation.

IMF warns wave of US protectionism would offset any stimulus gains

Protectionist policies from the new U.S. administration of President Donald Trump will probably have a negative impact on the economy, overshadowing any positive gains from economic stimulus measures, the head of the IMF said on Jan. 20. 

"Overall, it probably won't be net positive," IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde told a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Vucic, Jinping meet in Davos

DAVOS - Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the fringes of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos on Tuesday.

Vucic said earlier he would raise several very significant questions for Serbia, including establishing direct flights from Belgrade to Beijing and the start of works on upgrading the rail line from Belgrade to Budapest.

At the 47th World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, I heard an interesting Turkey rumor.  It was said that the recently established Sovereign Wealth Fund (UVF) decided to have a strong representation at Davos this year. They arranged meetings and interviews beforehand, and it was rumored that Energy Minister Berat Albayrak was to head the delegation. 

Schaeuble warns Athens new bailout deal without IMF not acceptable

German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble turned up the heat on the Greek government Thursday, warning in an interview that if Athens and its creditors conclude the second review of the country's bailout without the participation of the International Monetary Fund then it will be highly unlikely that the German parliament will approve another program to replace the current one.
