Eight men own same as poorest half of world: Oxfam

Eight men own the same wealth as the poorest half of the world's population, a level of inequality which "threatens to pull our societies apart," Oxfam said on Jan. 16 ahead of the World Economic Forum opening in Davos.

The wealth of the world's poorest 3.6 billion people is the equivalent to the combined net worth of six American businessmen, one from Spain and another from Mexico.

Doğan chair to attend Davos as sole Turkish member of key sustainability commission

Doğan Holding Chair Begümhan Doğan Faralyalı will attend the World Economic Forum 2017 in Davos, which will take place on Jan. 17-20, as the sole Turkish member in the Business and Sustainable Development Commission, which was launched in 2016 to enable the world to reach the U.N.'s Sustainable Development Goals. 

Low participation from Ankara at this year's Davos

There will be a limited participation from Ankara at the 47th World Economic Forum in Davos on Jan. 17-20, due to the ongoing debates over the constitutional amendment vote.   

Unless there is a last minute change, Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek will participate, along with Central Bank Governor Murat Çetinkaya. 

PM to attend World Economic Forum in Davos

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will be in Davos from January 17 through 20 to attend the 47th annual World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting.

On the fringes of the forum, Vucic will hold separate meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Swiss President Doris Leuthard and US Vice President Joe Biden, the government press office said in a statement.

World Economic Forum to start in Davos under 'Responsive and Responsible Leadership' theme

The 47th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) will take on Jan. 17-20 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, under the theme of "Responsive and Responsible Leadership." 

More than 2,500 participants from nearly 100 countries are slated to meet and participate in over 300 sessions at the elite gathering.

PM to visit India, Belarus, travel to Davos in January

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic on Thursday announced three trips abroad that he will be taking in January.

Vucic told a news conference he will be on a several-day visit to India, and also participate in the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he is scheduled to meet with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.
