Several events were held in Belgrade on Wednesday and Thursday to commemorate the anniversary of the 1995 massacres of thousands of Bosniaks from Srebrenica by Bosnian Serb forces.

The editor of the pro-government Serbian tabloid Informer, Dragan Vucicevic, has been found guilty of using hate speech against Anita Mitic, a former activist of the Youth Initiative for Human Rights, an NGO.

Activists staged a protest in Belgrade over the conviction of eight Youth Initiative for Human Rights members who disrupted a speech by convicted Serbian war criminal Veselin Sljivancanin in 2017.

The Belgrade Higher Court, in a verdict published on Wednesday, has ruled that allegations published in the Serbian tabloid Informer constituted hate speech - and ordered editor Dragan Vucicevic to publish the verdict, and pay court costs.

BELGRADE - Rodoljub Sabic, commissioner for information of public importance and personal data protection, ordered the Security Information Agency (BIA) to submit the data regarding the number of persons placed under surveillance in the course of 2013 to non-governmental organization Youth Initiative for Human Rights within five days.
