President decorates Independence War unit

Slovenska Bistrica – President Borut Pahor decorated on Saturday a former Territorial Defence unit based in Slovenjska Bistrica with the Order of Freedom for having taken over a weapons facility from the Yugoslav National Army (YNA) during Slovenia’s 1991 Independence War, a move that greatly contributed to Slovenia’s success in the war.

A letter dating November 1947 by Lt Col G F Blunda, of the US Army, to Col Carl F Fritzsche, assistant deputy director of intelligence in the CIA, says the British and Americans had dumped plans to arrest Ante Pavelic, although they knew his whereabouts in the Vatican and had a prepared plan to lure him out.
