Europe to face new refugee exodus if Turkey ignored: AKP

Europe may face a massive refugee exodus if it ignores warnings by Ankara, Turkey's ruling party spokesman said on Feb. 4.

Speaking at a news conference in Ankara, Justice and Development Party (AKP) spokesperson Ömer Çelik warned of an impending humanitarian disaster in Syria's Idlib province.

Ankara blasts Greek MEP for ripping Turkish flag at plenary

Turkey on Jan. 30 slammed Greek member of the European Parliament (EP) Ioannis Lagos for ripping a Turkish flag at the EP Plenary.

"These racist minds know better than anybody else how we broke the hands of and poured into the sea those who dare attack our glorious flag," Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said in a tweet.

AKP rules out early election rumors

The Turkish government does not have an early election in its agenda, ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) spokesperson Ömer Çelik has said, after the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader brought up the issue, saying the government might "have to go to early polls" due to economic troubles.

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos on Monday met with China's Li Zhanshu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) during a state visit to China, state-run Athens-Macedonia (ANA-MPA) news agency reports.

Pavlopoulos discussed Greece's key foreign policy issues, particularly the Cyprus problem, ANA-MPA said.
