Justice system should prioritize trial without arrest: Minister
The main priority of Turkey's justice system should be trial without arrest, the country's justice minister said on Dec. 9.
"In cases where it is necessary to consider an arrest, this decision should be applied in a measured and proportioned manner," Abdulhamit Gül told lawmakers during the 2021 budget debates in the Turkish parliament.

Gül said works into the coup cases were continuing even during the pandemic, adding that the Turkish judiciary has been fighting against FETÖ since July 15, 2016.
Turkey to restart legal proceedings: Minister
Turkey's justice minister on June 15 announced that all legal proceedings and trials in the country would continue as of June 16 after having been halted due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.
"We've taken all the precautions in the courthouses," Abdulhamit Gül said, speaking during an interview with Anadolu Agency.
