Trabzonspor suffered its first defeat in seven games under coach Abdullah Avcı, losing 2-0 at home against Galatasaray in a Turkish Süper Lig game on Dec. 26.

Former Turkish national team coach Abdullah Avcı wants to prove his credentials when his Trabzonspor hosts Galatasaray on Dec. 26 in a Turkish Süper Lig game.

Trabzonspor won its first game under its new coach, Abdullah Avcı, 1-0 against Erzurumspor in the Turkish Süper Lig on Nov. 22, ending a five-game winless streak.

Caleb Ekuban scored the only goal of the game in the first half to end the home team's poor form in the league.
With the win, Trabzonspor increased its total points to nine, while Erzurumspor remained in eight points.

The race for the Turkish Süper Lig trophy enters a crucial weekend as four title hopefuls prepare to clash each other.

Trabzonspor, sitting atop the standings with a game in hand, visits Beşiktaş on Feb. 22, while archrivals Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray clash in a derby game on Istanbul's Asian side on Feb. 23.

The top two of the Turkish Süper Lig, leader Sivasspor and Başakşehir, its closest follower from two points behind, will clash in the eastern province of Sivas in the highlight game of match week 21 on Feb. 9.

The host was very comfortable unlit last week, four points away with its closest follower but it was shaken by a 5-1 defeat against Gaziantep away.

Beşiktaş defeated Caykur Rizespor 2-1 in Sergen Yalçın's first match at the helm on Feb. 1.

At Yeni Rize Şehir Stadium, Beşiktaş found the first goal with a Burak Yılmaz's close-range shot in the 29th minute.

In the 36th minute, the home team netted the equalizer when Czech forward Milan Skoda's header beat Beşiktaş goalkeeper Loris Karius.

Turkish football club Beşiktaş sacked their coach Abdullah Avcı on Jan. 24.

"Our executive board decided to part ways with Beşiktaş coach Abdullah Avcı. We thank him and wish him success in the future," the club said in their official website.

Avcı's Beşiktaş career ended just in 239 days.

Abdullah Avcı, the troubled coach of Beşiktaş, says he does not consider quitting the team following a chain of disappointing results. But a home loss against city rival Galatasaray on Oct. 27 may add to his woes that grow on another European fiasco late on Oct. 24.

Beaten by Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League play-offs, Turkey's Başakşehir will make its UEFA Europa League group stage debut this season against Bulgaria's Ludogorets as Konyaspor visits Marseille. 

Başakşehir, the runner-up in last season's domestic title race, is highly motivated after it won 3-2 against city rival Fenerbahçe away, a first in its short history. 

Last year's runner-up Medipol Başakşehir will visit Fenerbahçe, another title contender, on Sept. 9 in the highlight game of the weekend at the Turkish Super League in a bid to break the jinx against its city rival.
