"Lucifer" gripping Europe, warnings issued for 26 cities

A heatwave that has been causing great trouble across southern and southeastern Europe for weeks now has been dubbed "Lucifer."

This is according to the Mirror, which said that "countries such as Spain, Italy and Croatia are set to see blistering 40 degrees Celsius heat, which has triggered a series of severe warnings."

Belgrade spring festival in April, May

BELGRADE - The Belgrade spring festival, which will encompass a number of culture and sport events, exhibitions, competitions, concerts will be held in April and May.

European Rowing Championships starts

BELGRADE - The 2014 European Rowing Championships will be held on Belgrade's Ada Ciganlija from May 29 to June 1.

The championships will feature a record 800 competitors from 36 countries.

Serbia will have 12 representatives at Adi Ciganlija in six crews, and the greatest competitors for the top ranking will be the teams of England, Germany, France and Italy.

Ada Ciganlija to host European Rowing Championships

BELGRADE - The 2014 European Rowing Championships will be held on Belgrade's Ada Ciganlija from May 29 to June 1, the organisers of the event said on Tuesday.

The championships will feature a record 800 competitors from 36 countries, Serbian Rowing Federation Secretary-General Nebojsa Jevremovic told a press conference.

Serbian company to build second-largest bridge in Norway

BELGRADE - VNG Ltd., a Serbian company based in Novi Sad, will next year start construction of the second-largest bridge in Norway, which will be 1,533 m long.

The Hllogaland bridge, with a 1,145 m main span, will stretch along Rombaksfjorden in the Narvik municipality, Nordland county, said a statement published on Norway's official website for Serbia.

Boat, fishing and hunting show opened

BELGRADE - The international boat, hunting and fishing show, featuring more than 70 participants from the country and abroad, opened on Wednesday at the Belgrade Fair.

The trade show was opened by a family of seafarers, Jelena and Srboljub Kojadinovic, and Serbian rower and Olympian Nikola Stojic, who competed in numerous world and European championships.
