Georgiadis calls on conservative MPs to rally behind party line on migrant work permits
Labor Minister Adonis Georgiadis has urged New Democracy MPs to align with the conservative party line and support an amendment aimed at granting work permits to approximately 30,000 irregular migrants.

Samaras criticizes gov’t amendment on residence permits
Former conservative prime minister Antonis Samaras has criticized a government amendment that would grant residence permits to third-country nationals living in Greece for many years without legal documents and working in undeclared jobs.
Samaras, who was premier from 2012 to 2015, said Greece was becoming a "beacon for attracting illegal immigrants" with such legislation.
Investment in human resources ‘a challenge’

Minister heralds measures to absorb more women in labor market
The Labor and Social Security Ministry is planning a comprehensive set of measures and actions for the faster absorption of women in the labor market, Adonis Georgiadis said, speaking at the second International Forum on Women's Entrepreneurship on Saturday.
Elefsina shipyard streamlining deal to be signed on Monday
Labor Minister Adonis Georgiadis announced on Saturday that ONEX Shipyards and the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFCgov) will formally sign their agreement for the funding of the streamlining plan of Elefsis Shipyards with over $100 million on Monday, in Elefsina.
"The renaissance of the shipbuilding industry in Greece is now a reality," he said.
Expansion ‘a la carte’ for digital labor card
The Labor and Social Security Ministry is promoting the selective expansion of the digital labor card in retail trade and industry from the beginning of 2024, with the competent agencies hard at work making preparations, as in its full development the measure will concern over 500,000 workers in at least 65,000 businesses.

Second job could raise your pension
People who work a second job beyond their main, full-time occupation, will enjoy higher pensions when their retire, Labor and Social Insurance Minister Adonis Georgiadis has told Kathimerini.
Georgiadis has drafted a bill allowing a second job, provided that total daily employment does not exceed 13 hours.

Pilot job relocation scheme to start in the fall
A pilot job program plans to place 500 unemployed people from the region of Western Macedonia in seasonal farm jobs in the regional unit of Iraklio, on the island of Crete.
Western Macedonia has the highest unemployment rate among Greece's 13 regions, but moving around the country to find jobs has not been done at any significant level.

Pilot transferring of jobless from one region to another
