Tunisia has withdrawn from cinemas a new Agatha Christie adaptation starring Israeli actress Gal Gadot, following protests over "normalization" with the Jewish state, officials said on Feb. 23.

"Death on the Nile" cruised to the top of the North American box office in its opening weekend, showing the continuing lure of a good old-fashioned Agatha Christie murder mystery, according to industry data on Feb. 13.

Kuwait will ban a new film adaptation of Agatha Christie's whodunnit "Death on the Nile" with a cast of Hollywood stars including Israeli actress Gal Gadot, authorities said on Feb. 6.

The film, directed by and co-starring Kenneth Branagh, is due for release this month in the United States.

The festival, which will continue until Oct 24, will include panel discussions at the historic hotel with local and international detective novelists.
