Democratic Bulgaria supports the steps taken by caretaker Minister of Justice Yanaki Stoilov for the dismissal of Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev.

Acting on its own initiative, Bulgaria's prosecution service has instituted six case files after the US Treasury Department and State Department announced on Wednesday that they are sanctioning a total of six Bulgarians over their involvement in significant corruption. 

The Prosecutor's Office announced today that it is launching an investigation into the information disclosed by the State Department of the United States on corruption activities involving Vasil Bozhkov, Delyan Peevski, Ilko Zheliazkov, Alexander Manolev, Petar Haralampiev and Krasimir Tomov.

At the order of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Rumen Porozhanov on 30th of April requested the resignation of Deputy Executive Director of the State Fund Agriculture (SFA), Ivanka Bagdatova-Mizova, reports BNT. 

The European Commission refused to comment on the case of the Bulgarian guest houses built with funds from European funds as private villas, BNR reported.
 
Speaker Daniel Rosario said that an investigation into these cases is currently underway in Bulgaria, and it is precisely this that needs to answer the problem.

Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov instructed the National Police to check all guest houses built with EU funds. An investigation in Blagoevgrad is already in process on the occasion of the property of Alexander Manolev, reminded the prosecutor. The National Police also checks if the family of Elena Yoncheva uses guest houses funded by EU funds for other purposes.

Deputy Minister of Economy Alexander Manolev resigned after talking with Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, reported NOVA TV. 

As a motive for his decision, Mr Manolev highlights the beginning of the inspections of the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office on media publications and his desire not to affect the work of the government.

The Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office has instituted an investigation following media reports about misappropriation of EU funds by the deputy minister of economy, said the Prosecutor's Office.

Bulgarian high-tech companies can apply for Qatar funding to expand their operations and to enter the global market. This was made clear during a meeting of Deputy Economy Minister Alexander Manolev with the Minister of Commerce and Industry of the State of Qatar Ali Bin Ahmed Al Kuwari and the President of Qatar Free Zone Ahmad bin Mohamed al-Sayed, the Ministry of Economy said.
