About 2000 start-ups have been set up in the past five years in Bulgaria. About half still exist and 40% have received further funding from investment funds. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economy Alexander Manolev in the presentation of the "Promotion of Entrepreneurship" procedure of the Operational Program "Innovation and Competitiveness" in Plovdiv.

A German company has invested EUR 32 million to build a new electric wiring plant in Pleven. This will create 2000 jobs for the region, a press conference at the Ministry of Economy has revealed.

In 2017, furniture exports exceeded EUR 335 million. The growth trend has been steady over the years, and has grown nearly twice as much compared to 2008. Since the beginning of 2018, 10 certificates have been issued under the Investment Promotion Act (LCI) with a total amount of nearly BGN 600 million and planned 877 new jobs. At the end of 2017 and early 2018, the Ministry of Economy signed contracts for the promotion of 7 certified projects under the IPA with a total investment of BGN 99.76 million and 1905 new jobs.

Representatives of the world's largest chemical industry, the American Dow, are exploring investment opportunities in Bulgaria.This was made clear during a meeting of Deputy Economy Minister Alexander Manolev with Howard Chase, responsible for relations with the company's institutions for Europe, the Ministry of Economy said.

Representatives of the largest industrial union in Germany will be visiting Bulgaria next year to explore investment opportunities and launch new projects. Bulgarian companies are active in Belarus in the field of dairy production, restaurant and agricultural pharmacy.
