Judges at a Lamia court are due on Monday to deliver their decision on the latest and final appeal by former police officer Epaminondas Korkoneas against a life sentence for the fatal shooting in December 2008 of teenager Alexis Grigoropoulos in the downtown Athens district of Exarchia.

The appeal hearings of two police officers convicted in the murder of 15-year-old Alexis Grigoropoulos in 2008 was adjourned until July 29 following a tumultuous session on Wednesday.

Epaminondas Korkoneas, an ex-police officer convicted to life over the 2008 death of teenager Alexis Grigoropoulos, testified before a court in Lamia, central Greece, on Thursday, the penultimate day of his appeal.

Greek authorities say more than 100 people were detained during rioting in Athens and the northern city of Thessaloniki following events marking the 10th anniversary of the fatal police shooting of a teenager.

Police said Friday that 66 people were detained in Athens during the violence that began Thursday afternoon, with 13 of those arrested.

Two riot officers and at least one demonstrator were injured in overnight clashes self-styled anarchists in downtown Athens in the early hours of Friday.
