Tsipras: Unity needed – Pavlopoulos: Country needs to exit impasse

BRUSSELS - According to sources close to the discussions between Greece and the eurozone, the Greek government will submit a request to its lender on Wednesday for its loan agreement to be extended.
Intensive talks between the Greek side and the institutions are continuing.

Reuters and Dow Jones on Tuesday reported that Greece will ask for a bailout extension Wednesday. The news agency cited “sources”.
The report overturned the negative mood in US markets.
President Papoulias to meet with PM Tsipras on Wednesday
Outgoing President of Republic Karolos Papoulias will receive Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Wednesday at 12:00.
It should be noted that the vote for the election of the new President of Republic is to be held on Wednesday at 7.30 p.m.
Greek PM Announces Presidential Candidate
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras announced Prokopis Pavlopoulos as the presidential candidate of the coalition government.
Pavlopoulos, who is a centre-right moderate, served as Interior Minister between 2004 and 2009 and was likely nominated for his criticism of the bailout agreement, daily Kathimerini reports.
