Portorož hosting WTA 250 tournament
Portorož – The Slovenian seaside resort of Portorož is hosting the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) circuit this week for a WTA 250 tournament with a prize money of 235,238 US dollars.
The tournament will open with a ceremony later on Monday followed by an all-Croatian match between Donna Vekić and Ana Konjuh.

Büyükakçay wins first game at Australian Open qualifications
Çağla Büyükakçay, one of the three Turkish players competing in the 2021 Australian Open's qualifying stage, won her first game on Jan. 10 to advance to the second round.
Büyükakçay, world number 178, beat 15-year-old Andorran Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva 6,4-6,4 in Dubai.
She will next play Ana Konjuh of Croatia, who won 6-2,-67-6-4 against Anna-Lena Friedsam of Germany.
Jankovic beats Konjuh to advance to Guangzhou final
GUANGZHOU - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic will be defending her title at the Guangzhou WTA tennis tournament after beating Ana Konjuh of Croatia 7-5, 7-6 (9-7) in the semi-finals on Friday.
Jankovic won after 106 minutes of play and is now 2-0 head-to-head against the Croatian.
Fed Cup: Serbia books place in World Group II play-offs
BUDAPEST - Serbian Fed Cup team secured a place in the World Group II play-offs after defeating Croatia 2-0 in the promotional play-off decider.
Aleksandra Krunic won the tie for Serbia, storming past Donna Vekic 6-1, 6-1. In the first match, Serbia's Ivana Jorovic outlasted Croatia's Ana Konjuh 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.

BUDAPEST - Serbian Fed Cup team took a 1-0 lead over Croatia in the Europe/Africa Group I promotional play-off decider played in Budapest on Saturday.
Ivana Jorovic claimed the first point for Serbia after a hard-fought three set win over Ana Konjuh (6:3, 2:6, 7:5).

Wozniacki effortlessly through to 2nd round in Istanbul Cup
Top-seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark easily advanced to the second round of the Istanbul Cup, defeating Belinda Bencic of Switzerland 6-0, 6-0 on July 15.
Wozniacki allowed no hope for the 17-year-old, dubbed as the leading player in her age group, and finished with a âdouble bagel,â giving away no games.
Title race under way at Istanbul Cup
The TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup started with the first round games yesterday, with Serbiaâs Bojana Jovanovski advancing to the second round.
Jovanovski, the seventh-seed in the tournament, beat Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck in three sets to advance to the second round.
