Galatasaray drops further in Turkish Süper Lig with Trabzonspor loss

Galatasaray's woeful Turkish Süper Lig season hit a new low on Jan. 23 when the Istanbul club lost 2-1 to leader Trabzonspor at home.

Galatasaray made a hopeful start to the match and went ahead in the 30th minute when Romanian midfielder Alexandru Cicaldau successfully converted a penalty shot.

Trabzonspor fought hard to secure a 2-2 draw with Galatasaray in a Turkish Süper Lig showdown on Sept. 12, an upsetting result for the Lions.

Galatasaray scored the opener in the 20th minute as Turkish midfielder Emre Kılınç finished in a one-on-one position at Trabzon's Medical Park Stadium.

Trabzonspor snap up Greek midfielder Bakasetas

Süper Lig side Trabzonspor on Jan. 30 announced the signing of Greek midfielder Anastasios Bakasetas.

In a video on the Black Sea club's Twitter page, the 27-year-old donned a white Trabzonspor shirt to show off his dribbling skills and perform the famous Sirtaki folk dance.

"Welcome to Trabzonspor, Bakasetas," the club said in a separate tweet.

Galatasaray beat Hatayspor 3-0

Galatasaray defeated Atakaş Hatayspor 3-0 in their Turkish Süper Lig game on Dec. 5.

Galatasaray's Senegalese star Mbaye Diagne scored the opener in the 32nd minute at the Türk Telekom Stadium.

The first half ended with a 1-0 score.

In minute 64, Hatayspor defender Pablo Santos scored an own goal as the Lions doubled the lead.
