Romania's former anti-corruption champion, former chief prosecutor Laura Codruta Kovesi, has challenged her country's government at the European Court of Human Rights over her dismissal last year as head of Romania's National Anti-Corruption Directorate, the DNA.

Romania's Attorney General Augustin Lazar had a meeting with visiting State Minister for European Affairs of the German Federal Foreign Office Michael Roth, who voiced concern over recent amendments to Romania's criminal legislation.

The National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) will still have to remain a strong, independent and relevant body, according to Anca Jurma, who took over the office of DNA chief prosecutor on Thursday, after on Monday President Klaus Iohannis signed a decree removing Laura Codruta Kovesi from same office.

Prosecutor General Augustin Lazar on Monday issued the order through which Anca Jurma has been delegated as chief prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA).
