Romania's Transgaz signs MoU on development of natural gas networks in Eastern Europe

Romania's Transgaz national natural gas transmission corporation signed on January 28 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Partnership for the Development of Natural Gas Networks in Eastern Europe (EE-NGP), according to a press statement released on Friday to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB). The memorandum was signed by all the entities that are members of the project.

Unemployment rate decreases to 3.9pct in December 2019

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3.9pct in December last year, from 4pct in November, and the number of the unemployed decreased to 354,000 people, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Thursday. In November 2019, the number of unemployed people aged 15-74 was 366,000, and in December 2018 - 359,000.

UPDATE Romania's end-2019 budget deficit at 4.6 pct of GDP

Romania closed 2019 with a budget deficit of 4.6 percent of GDP, above the authorities' November estimation, when the second budget adjustment was operated, Finance Minister Florin Citu announced on Tuesday. The only time with a wider budget gap was the crisis year of 2010, when the government ran a deficit of 6.5 percent of GDP. In 2018 the budget deficit was 2.88 percent of GDP.

Three-month interbank offered rate rises to 3.18 ppa

Romania's three-month interbank offered rate ROBOR rose on Tuesday to 3.18 ppa, from 3.16 ppa, on Monday, according to data published by the National Bank of Romania (BNR). At the beginning of last year, the three-month ROBOR was 2.99 per year, and at the end of the year 2.18 pct. On the same day of 2019, the index stood at 2.20 per year.

APIA authorizes payment of over 92pct of eligible farmers; total sum exceeds 2bn euros

The Agency for Payments and Intervention for Agriculture (APIA) has authorized the payment of over 92pct of the number of eligible farmers of the 2019 Campaign for single payment applications, with a total amount of 2.115 billion euros, informs the institution on Tuesday.

Annual inflation rate, up to 4pct in December, above BNR forecast
