It was enough for the Spanish tennis player to appear in Rome and thus overtake Djokovic, and Alcaraz did that with his triumph in the first round.

Tornado Djokovic blew away Rublev!
The nine-time champion charged past the sixth-ranked tennis player in the world, Russian Andrei Rublev, in the quarter-finals - 6:1, 6:2, 6:4.
"Very close to the performance of two nights ago," Djokovic said in on court interview. "Cannot be happier with my tennis. Been playing very solid from the back of the court."

Andy Roddick: "I don't see who could take Novak out"
The nine-time champion won with 6:2, 6:1, 6:2 after only two hours of play and now a clash with Russian Andrei Rublev awaits him.
Novak's performance in the fourth round was praised by many, after all, he clearly stands out as the favorite to win another trophy.

Novak was simply unstoppable in this match, so at no time was there a problem with the left hamstring.
Now he faces his biggest challenge in Melbourne, fifth seed Andrei Rublev who will be recovering from his round of 16 match for a long time.

Injury is (not) a problem - Djokovic on a rollercoaster of pain
Djokovic convincingly outlasted Grigor Dimitrov 3-0 (7:6, 6:3, 6:4) in sets and showed that he is stronger than both the injury and the opponent, and this is his 24th consecutive victory in this tournament.
"I think the turning point, so to speak for both players, was right from the blocks, the very first game," Djokovic said in on court post-match interview.
