BELGRADE -- German Ambassador in Serbia Heinz Wilhelm stated on Tuesday that his country "sees Serbia as the key country in the region," Tanjug reported.

The diplomat also noted that the visit of Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić to Berlin was "highly important."

Serbian PM's Berlin Visit Will Focus on EU

Ivo Viskovic, a former Serbian ambassador to Germany, says Vucic's meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday will focus on Serbia's EU integration process.

According to him, Serbia can expect German help on its path to EU membership. "This help would be mainly of an advisory and economic character through stimulating German investment in Serbia," Viskovic told BIRN.

Vucic to meet Merkel in Berlin on Wednesday

BERLIN - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will go on a two-day official visit to Germany on Wednesday upon invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

According to announcements from Berlin, Vucic's meeting with the German chancellor will be followed by a meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

BELGRADE - Serbia will be a reliable ally of Germany's, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said Monday, stressing that it is his most important message ahead of his official visit to Berlin on June 11.

Vucic told a press conference in the Serbian government that he was honored to be invited by German Chancellor Angela Merkel for a visit to the country.
