Anarchist group claims responsibility for stolen ballot box
An unknown anarchist group calling themselves Ballot-seeking Arsonists claimed responsibility on Monday for the stealing and burning of a ballot box in the central Athenian district of Exarcheia during Sunday's general elections.
Mitsotakis says ND victory ‘important for Europe, not just Greece’
Prime Minister-elect Kyriakos Mitsotakis said New Democracy's sweeping victory in Sunday's general election had significance for Europe as well as Greece, pointing to the defeat of neo-Nazi Golden Dawn which crashed out of Parliament.
Anarchists steal ballot box, torch ballot papers in Exarchia, reports say
Riot police officers were dispatched to the downtown neighborhood of Exarchia on Sunday evening after reports that self-styled anarchists grabbed at least one ballot box following attacks on three polling stations in the broader area.
In one case the perpetrators used a sledgehammer to threaten electoral clerks before grabbing the ballot box and making off with it.
Veteran lawyer named interim interior minister
Antonis Roupakiotis, a veteran lawyer and former cabinet member has been named interim interior minister as Greece heads to early general elections next month, sources have said.
