Israel strikes southern Gaza as Blinken in Egypt for talks

Israel bombarded the southern Gaza Strip Thursday as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken landed in Egypt on the final leg of regional talks aimed at preventing the Israel-Hamas war from spreading.

His arrival coincided with the start of a hearing at the U.N.'s top court over accusations Israel has committed "genocidal acts" in Gaza.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's brief visit to Crete highlighted the increasingly valuable role Greece plays in its wider region, as it is rightly viewed as a credible member of NATO and the European Union and a pillar of stability in a geopolitically critical, but volatile, area.

Vucic to attend WEF meeting in Davos, Kurti's name asterisked

DAVOS - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is on a list of around thirty political leaders from around the world who will attend the upcoming World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos.

The forum will be attended by more than 300 participants, including Pristina's PM Albin Kurti, whose name is asterisked and footnoted.

Optimism in Athens over F-35 purchase

Athens is optimistic that concrete steps will be taken in February, at the latest, regarding Greece's purchase of F-35 fighter jets from the United States. 

More specifically, a letter of acceptance by the US government of the Greek request is expected in the coming weeks, while the procedures will be set in motion to forward the agreement to US Congress.
