A draft law on managing assets confiscated over criminal activity was the last Finance Ministry bill to be voted in the plenary before elections.

The bill was approved in principle by ruling New Democracy votes alone.

There are more than 1,000 persons from abroad, who transferred their tax residence to Greece after the provision of tax incentives that provide for the payment of half income tax and half solidarity contribution for 7 years.

Greek political parties continued a heated debate in the Parliament's plenary session on Monday over the draft state budget for 2021.

The debate, which is in its fourth day, will conclude with a vote on Tuesday night.

The Finance Ministry has extended the deadline for the submission of declarations concerning a number of categories in order to assist corporations, accountants and tax experts which are currently facing a struggle to support the economy, as it said in a statement.

A great number of high-income foreigners have shown an interest in shifting their tax domicile to Greece, in order to enjoy the lower taxation introduced a few months ago.

The government is bringing an end to the probing of taxpayers' assets to establish their real incomes, Deputy Finance Minister Apostolos Vesyropoulos told Skai TV on Saturday, and will increase the incentives for citizens to use credit or debit cards or ebanking in their transactions with freelance professionals.

The state is seeking out any unclaimed inheritances, going as far as to offer rewards to citizens who can provide information in cases where no beneficiaries have come forward.

This will likely be the year of the property sector, as the interventions already set in motion and those expected will contribute toward the recovery of construction activity and sales.

The government will provide incentives for people, and companies, to replace old-technology, polluting cars with zero emission ones from next year, Deputy Finance Minister Apostolos Vesyropoulos said.

The incentives will come in the form of lower registration and use levies for vehicles, including company cars, Vesyropoulos told Skai radio.
