UK nominates movie on gender-based violence in Turkey for Oscars
A British-made documentary about pervasive gender-based violence in Turkey has been selected as the United Kingdom's Oscar nominee for the 94th Academy Awards, to be held in March in Los Angeles.
Directed by Chloe Fairweather, "Dying to Divorce" has been selected to represent Britain at the Oscars as the official entry in the Best International Feature Film category.
Underground cisterns of Istanbul displayed for 1st time
Within the scope of a research project that lasted three years, a Turkish historian toured the historical peninsula of Istanbul and explored underwater cisterns, aqueducts, wells and fountains.
"We scanned the mysterious remains under the Topkapı Palace, the Hagia Sophia and the Hagia Irene as we toured around the places with a boat," Arzu Ulaş told Demirören News Agency on June 12.
Famous Turkish actor adopts donkey foal
Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ, a famous Turkish actor, adopted a donkey foal from the Work Animals Rescue Foundation's (WARF) farm in Istanbul's Beykoz district on March 29.

COVID-19 fighters enter 2021 on duty
Filiation teams at the forefront of the fight against the novel coronavirus in Turkey were on duty as they greeted the new year.
Filiation staff in the northwestern Kırklareli province were among them, tracking the virus' spread and conducting PCR tests while far from their families and loved ones on New Year's Eve.

Wild boars raid streets in Tukey’s Marmaris district
Wild boars have been spotted wandering in the streets of the southwestern province of Muğla's Marmaris district, which is one of the tourism hotspots of Turkey, and has become a subject of grave concern and fear among residents, the officials said on Dec. 11.
Wild boars have been hogging the district center in search of food, and residents have raised concerns over their safety.
