According to the Central Election Commission's interim results on Monday morning, We Continue the Change won 25.85 per cent of the vote, ahead of ex-premier Boyko Borissov's GERB in close second with 20.38 per cent.

The newly formed "We Continue the Change" party, led by former interim ministers Kiril Petkov and Assen Vassilev, is expected to make a splash and come in third place, possibly collaborating with Democratic Bulgaria in a potential coalition. 

A steering committee to nominate President Rumen Radev and Vice President Iliana Iotova as independent candidates to run for a second term in office at the November 14 presidential elections held its inaugural meeting on Monday. The committee comprises nearly 200 members, among them politicians, intellectuals, athletes, science, culture and art figures, and journalists.

Under the EU Green Deal, of which Bulgaria is part, the use of coal in energy industry is to be done away with by 2030. The target is  net carbon emissions to be reduced by 55%.

Bulgarians are heading for a third parliamentary election this year hoping that this time a new political force could become the game-changer and break the political deadlock. EURACTIV Bulgaria reports.

100 million euros worth of internal debt in government bonds is being offered to investors. This is the first debt issuance since the spring of 2021, and in the term of office of caretaker Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev.

Prime Minister Stefan Yanev Tuesday said he was ready to head a new caretaker cabinet if necessary.

The draft update of the state budget, proposed by the caretaker government passed in the Budget parliamentary committee.

As already announced, the update envisages that by the end of the year the budget will receive BGN 2.1 billion more than the planned revenues, of which BGN 1.8 billion are provided for more expenditures.

President Rumen Radev held a working meeting with several members of the caretaker government to discuss the COVID situation and a possible new wave in infections.
