Kosovo Serb Association Depends on Boycott Ending, Minister Says

Bajram Gecaj, Kosovo's deputy minister for local government, told BIRN that the government is waiting for Lista Srpska - the political representatives of the Serbian community - to return to work in state institutions before continuing talks on the establishment of an Association of Serbian Municipalities.

Kosovo Hesitates to Demolish Serb Wall In North

Kosovo government officials have yet to explain what they plan to do with the two-metre-high wall that Kosovo Serbs have erected on the northern side of the Ibar river in the divided northern town of Mitrovica.

A resolution issued by the Kosovo parliament on December 23 ordered "the demolition of the illegal wall in the northern part of Mitrovica to happen within January 2017".

Serb Census in Northern Kosovo Faces Obstacles

The chair of the Kosovo parliament's Commission for Public Administration, Zenun Pajaziti, told BIRN that his commission had approved a draft document for a census to be held in northern Kosovo, which now has to be put on the parliamentary agenda.

The census in the four northern municipalities was planned for this autumn, the Deputy Minister of Local Government, Bajram Gecaj, added.

OSCE Agrees to Run Serbian Elections in Kosovo

The OSCE and Kosovo have reached a deal that will allow the OSCE to collect the votes of Kosovo Serbs in the Serbian parliamentary elections in April.

It is the third election facilitation operation conducted by the OSCE in four years. It undertook the same role in the 2012 and 2014 Serbian parliamentary elections.

Kosovo talks to continue, but unknown when and at what level

Pristina will continue dialogue with Belgrade, but it is not known for now when and at what level, said Kosovo's deputy minister for local government.

Bajram Gecaj told Radio Free Europe's Albanian language edition that he "neither denied nor confirmed" whether Prime Minister Isa Mustafa would attend the meeting with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic in Brussels.
