Central bank points to signs of economic slowdown
Ljubljana – The Slovenian economic activity remains high but there are signs of a slowdown, the central bank says in its latest publication. The use of production capacities is high, the pre-crisis level of activity has been reached, and there is a shortage of raw materials and intermediate goods, and qualified workers, Banka Slovenije says.

Slovenia’s GDP down 5.5% in 2020 year-on-year
Ljubljana – Slovenia’s GDP dropped 5.5% in real terms in 2020 over the year before, the Statistics Office said on Friday. Domestic spending saw a considerable drop, while external demand also suffered a blow. Data for the final quarter of last year show a year-on-year drop of 4.5%.

Central bank says situation getting worse but not as markedly as in spring
Ljubljana – Banka Slovenije’s latest report on macroeconomic trends says that the economic situation in the eurozone as well as in Slovenia started to deteriorate again at the start of the fourth quarter. The lockdown will cause a substantial drop in economic activity, but it is not expected to be as strong as in the second quarter.
