Border Dispute Clouds Montenegrin PM's Kosovo Visit

Montenegrin Prime Minister Dusko Markovic will pay an official visit to Kosovo on Tuesday, despite Kosovo's failure to set a day for its MPs to vote on a long-awaited demarcation agreement between the two countries.

Kosovo's government confirmed that "all topics of mutual interest between two countries will be discussed" during Markovic's visit.

Pristina: Guinea-Bissau again confirms recognition of Kosovo

Kosovo First Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli has announced that Guinea Bissau "again confirmed" that it has recognized Kosovo.

Pacolli told Pristina-based KTV that he received a note about the confirmation of recognition, and presented it to the viewers and to the host of the show, the Beta agency is reporting.

Kosovo seeks support at Council of Europe, gets none

The Political Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will on Wednesday discuss the security situation in Kosovo.

Marija Obradovic, a member of Serbia's delegation to this organization and PACE vice-president, says that Pristina has no support whatsoever to apply for membership in the Council of Europe (CoE).

Ramush Haradinaj Cancels US Visit After Failing To Get Visa

A spokesman for the Iowa National Guard says Kosovar Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has canceled a planned visit to the U.S. state this week because "he was unable to get a visa."

The spokesman, Colonel Greg Hapgood, told RFE/RL on January 8 that the National Guard's commanding officer, Major General Tim Orr, had invited Haradinaj to an event on January 11.

Pacoli: Serbia doesn't have to say it recognized Kosovo, only has to "act like that"

Kosovo Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli said in an interview with Deutsche Welle that Serbia "does not have to say that it recognizes Kosovo."

It only has to "act like that," he said.

Pacolli argued that "the reality is that Serbia can influence the region", that Kosovo has "a long border with Serbia" and that in Pristina they want to have "good relations with Serbia."

Kosovo Businesses Doubtful About Planned Free Trade Zone

Declaring the northern Serb-run half of the town of Mitrovica as a free trade zone might help the reconciliation of ethnic Albanians and Serbs in Kosovo and stimulate the local economy at the same time, business leaders told BIRN, following Kosovo Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli's invitation to his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic to consider the idea.
