Turkey has mobilized and united in efforts to fight against wildfires that have wreaked havoc on swathes of the country's south and Aegean region, as the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry said 107 of 112 fires have been brought under control as of early Aug. 1.

Massive fires broke out in forestlands across Turkey as temperature rises above the seasonal normal.

Amid a sweltering heatwave in Turkey, forest fires in the country's western and southern coasts have been ongoing over the past two days, with hundreds of hectares of forest land already burnt to ashes.

Turkey's agriculture and forestry minister has said fish caught in the Marmara Sea can be consumed without any doubt amid public worry that the fish weren't edible due to "sea snot," or mucilage, that has invaded the sea over the past weeks.

Turkey has taken all necessary measures related to the drought and there will be no problem in the future, the country's agriculture and forestry minister said on June 29.
