Global festivals, musicians lit up Istanbul in 2019
Istanbul hosted a dazzling array of world-famous musicians as well as prestigious cultural events and festivals in 2019.
Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), the 47th Istanbul Music Festival included 22 concerts with nearly 600 local and international musicians in the metropolis on June 11-30.
Bulgarian Voices feat. Lisa Gerrard | Athens | October 23
The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices and Lisa Gerrard will be performing at the Galatsi Olympic Hall as part of the Christmas Theater program of events on Wednesday, October 23.
Jazzmeia Horn | Athens | November 16-19
Grammy-nominated American jazz vocalist Jazzmeia Horn makes her Athens debut at the Half Note on November 16-19, with a program inspired by jazz greats including Sarah Vaughan, Bobby McFerrin and Abbey Lincoln that contains elements of R&B, soul and hard bop. She is joined by Victor Gould on piano, Barry Stephenson on bass and Henry Conerway III on drums. Shows start at 10.30 p.m.

Istanbul Jazz Festival to finish with migrant concert
The 24th Istanbul Jazz Festival will finish with a concert on July 21, featuring the Syrian Women's Chorus, composed of Syrian women who migrated to Istanbul.
In the concert, the chorus will accompany the Syrian saxophone player Basel Rajoub's band "Sorina" and Sirojiddin Juraev, a master performer of long-necked lutes from Central Asia.

Istanbul?s Cemal Re?it Rey (CRR) Concert Hall will host tonight legendary singer Bobby McFerrin, who is best known for his 1988 hit song ?Don?t Worry, Be Happy.?
American vocalist and conductor McFerrin is a 10-time Grammy Award winner, who is known for his unique vocal techniques, such as singing fluidly, but with quick and considerable jumps in pitch.
