Mistaken identity at hospital leads to family burying stranger
Celje/Ljubljana – A case of mistaken identity at Celje hospital has led to a family mourning and burying a stranger and the hospital management offering their resignation. Health Minister Danijel Bešič Loredan said that he too would resign if PM Robert Golob found he was also responsible. Golob said the minister was doing a great job.
Medical Chamber honoured with Order of Merit
Ljubljana – The Medical Chamber marked its 30th anniversary, and the 130th anniversary of its precursor, the first medical organisation in Slovenia, with a ceremony in Ljubljana on Friday. President Borut Pahor presented it with the Order of Merit for efforts in bringing doctors and dentists together to uphold the integrity of medical profession.

Pfizer jab recommended in Slovenia for under 30s
Ljubljana – Slovenia will follow the recommendation of the national advisory committee on immunisation to use the Pfizer vaccine for those under 30 years old, Health Minister Janez Poklukar said on Monday. In general, the use of mRNA vaccines will be recommended over viral vector vaccines.

Slovenia suspends use of J&J coronavirus vaccine
Ljubljana – Slovenia on Wednesday suspended the use of the single-shot coronavirus vaccine produced by Johnson & Johnson after a twenty-year-old woman died within a fortnight after receiving the shot, Health Minister Janez Poklukar announced.

Experts warn about exponential spread of Delta, urge vaccination
Ljubljana – Exponential growth in coronavirus infections presages a new Covid-19 wave that could continue into autumn, said the head of the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ), Milan Krek. He and infectious disease specialist Mateja Logar warned about imported cases, especially in light of the highly-contagious Delta strain, calling for vaccination.
MPs unanimously adopt changes redefining sexual violence
