After failed talks, UK says solution in Cyprus 'within reach with flexibility, creativity'
A peaceful solution on the eastern Mediterranean island of Cyprus is within reach "with flexibility and creativity," U.K. Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said before a visit to the island on Nov. 30.
"With further flexibility and creativity by all sides involved, we believe a solution is within reach," said Johnson in a written statement issued by the ministry on Nov. 29.
Cyprus foreign minister insists talks haven't collapsed
Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides insisted Friday that reunification talks with Turkish Cypriots "have not collapsed."
Addressing the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Nicosia Friday, Kasoulides clarified, however, that a multi-party summit cannot go ahead unless Greek and Turkish Cypriots agree on the fundamental issues of territory and property.
The end of the line for Turkey and the EU
The European Union was never sincere with Turkey. It is still a mystery why it recognized Turkey as a candidate for full membership in 1999, and endorsed the start of negotiations in 2005. It probably believed Turkey could never fulfill the requirements and so there was no risk of appeasing it.

Ministry of Culture, British Council sign agreement
BELGRADE - As part of UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson's official visit to Serbia, the Ministry of Culture and the British Council have signed a two-year agreement on cooperation.

BELGRADE - Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic and British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on Friday laid wreaths at the Commonwealth Cemetery in Belgrade in commemoration of the WWI Armistice Day.
In attendance at the ceremony were members of the Serbian Armed Forces Guard and the Irish Guard.
