Bulgarian Energy Holding CEO Ivan Yonchev Leaves Office

Ivan Yonchev, CEO of the Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH), has been discharged to undergo an operation, BEH has announced on his website.

Yonchev leaves the office on his own request, citing ill health and a medical intervention after which it will take long for him to recover, according to the message.

Electricity Prices Might Soar from October 1 - DKEVR

Energy bills in Bulgaria might gradually go up starting October to cover deficits at the state-owned utility NEK, the state electricity regulator announced.

DKEVR, the energy watchdog, earlier announced the National Electricity Company (NEK)'s debts amount to BGN 2.4 B (EUR 1.2 B) over the past four years.

State-owned National Electricity Company (NEK) piled up debt worth BGN 2.9 B (EUR 1.45 B) in 2010-2014, energy watchdog DKEVR's chief Boyan Boev said Thursday.

Some BGN 1.5 B of the sum are unrefunded costs related to "public electricity supplies," Boev was quoted by website Dnevnik.bg as declaring at a session of DKEVR.

Bulgaria's DKEVR Ascribes 2690 Violations to Energy Distributors

Power distributors operating in Bulgaria committed 2690 infringements, as the national energy watchdog DKEVR's audit revealed Wednesday.

Czech-based CEZ and Energo-Pro and Austrian-based were also accused by DKEVR of having provided false accounts of their revenues, with the latter being "millions of BGN" more than reported, according to Dariknews.

Natural gas prices in Bulgaria will decrease by 3 to 15%, the country's energy watchod DKEVR announced Friday.

Boyan Boev, head of the State Commisison for Energy and Water Regulation (what DKEVR stands for), said he hoped the move would push more Bulgarians to use gas, the website Expert.bg reports.
