Bulgaria: National Coronavirus Task Force Will Resume Work

The outgoing Prime Minister has ordered the Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov to resume the work of the National Operational Headquarters until a new government is formed. This became clear at an extraordinary briefing of GERB held on April 18.

In a post on Facebook, leader of There Is Such a People (ITN) Slavi Trifonov, who is currently under mandatory quarantine and yesterday was sworn in as an MP online, responded to GERB's initiative to start their new parliamentary term from moving a draft bill on the majority vote and blaming ITN for having given up on this initiative.

The resignation of the Cabinet Borissov 3 was accepted with 156 votes "for" and applause. This wat was the first item on the agenda of today's session.

GERB's parliamentary group did not take part in the vote, even though its members were in the plenary hall.

The National Operational Headquarters has been disbanded as of today.

This was announced by the government information service. The headquarters was established by order of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov at the beginning of the pandemic in February 2020.

The Central Election Commission on April 8 removed six people from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms and two from the GERB-​​UDF coalition from the list of elected MPs upon receipt of their requests.

From GERB these are Boyko Borissov and Pavlin Ganchev.
