Nine sentenced to prison six years after Çorlu train accident

After six years of legal proceedings, the verdict has been pronounced in the case surrounding the tragic train accident in the northwestern city of Tekirdağ's Çorlu district that killed 25 individuals and left hundreds injured.

Nine out of the 13 defendants involved have been sentenced to prison terms. Among them are four public officials who have been arrested and incarcerated.

EBRD provides loan to confectioner Kervan Gıda

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a long-term loan of 22 million euros to Kervan Gıda, the leading exporter of jelly sweets in Türkiye.

The funds will be used to finance capital expenditure investments to increase the capacity of the company's jelly and licorice production lines, install solar panels and improve its wastewater treatment methods.

Osman Hamdi painting to go on display in NY

As part of the 100th-anniversary celebrations of the Turkish Republic, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will organize the 100th Anniversary Gala event on Oct. 25, with an exhibition featuring Turkish painter Osman Hamdi Bey's painting "Girl Reading the Qur'an" and artwork from Burhan Doğançay's "Ribbons" series.

Coal miner victims commemorated on 23th year of accident

The 263 miners who were killed in an accident in Black Sea province of Zonguldak 23 years ago were commemorated on March 3 by families and their colleagues who survived the incident.

An explosion in the Kozlu mine, operated by the state Turkish Coal Institute (TTK), claimed the lives of 263 miners on March 3, 1992, in one of the worst mine disasters in Turkey's history.
