The highest ranking Bulgarian female tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova reached the quarterfinals of the San Antonio Open.

In a match from the second round, Pironkova defeated Lauren Davis from the USA with 6:3, 6:2.

BIRMINGHAM - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic defeated China's Shuai Zhang 6-2 6-2 in Birmingham on Saturday to reach the final of that WTA tournament.

Ivanovic has so far kept her performance at a high level in Birmingham and is on course to her first title on grass.

PARIS - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic reached the third round of the Roland Garros Grand Slam tennis tournament on Thursday by beating Elina Svitolina of Ukraine 7-5, 6-2.

Ivanovic eased past her second opponent in Paris with a good performance that suggested that she might go far at the tournament.

INDIAN WELLS - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic did not make it to the semifinals of the Indian Wells tennis tournament as she was bested by Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 early on Thursday.

Radwanska is next to play Romanian Simona Halep, who beat Australian Casey Dellacqua 6-2, 6-2.
