Tokyo Olympics 2020: Canoeist Catalin Chirila - Romania's flag bearer at Olympics closing ceremony
Canoe sprinter Catalin Chirila was selected as Romania's flag bearer for the closing ceremony of the Tokyo Olympic Games which will take place on Sunday at 14:00 hrs (Romania time), the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee announced on Facebook. Chirila took the 5th spot in the final of the men's C2 1000m event, together with partner Victor Mihalachi.

Romanians Catalin Chirila and Victor Mihalachi on Monday advanced to the semifinals of the men's canoe doubles 1,000m at the Tokyo Olympic Games, after finishing third in the first quarterfinal. The two Romanians clocked in at 3:51.565, behind Brazil (3:48.611) and Ukraine (3:49.356). The first three crews advanced to the semifinals.

The Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR) presented on Sunday evening Team Romania for the Tokyo Olympic Games (July 23 - August 8) which includes 100 athletes - 45 women and 55 in men - who will be competing in 17 sports.

Romania's Mihalachi and Chirila qualified for 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo
Romanian athletes Victor Mihalachi and Catalin Chirila qualified on Saturday for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, after ranking 5th in the final of the C2 men 1,000 meter at the 2019 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Szeged (Hungary), according to the Facebook page of CS Dinamo.
