Catherine Deneuve to receive Venice Film Festival honor
The great French film star Catherine Deneuve will receive the Golden Lion for lifetime achievement at the 79th Venice International Film Festival in September, organizers said on June 1.

Romanian-born French-Israeli artist Avigdor Arikha (1929-2010) began his career as an artist while struggling to survive in a Nazi concentration camp in World War II, taking down the scenes around him. A painter, draughtsman and printmaker, Arikha's career spanned several decades.

Star-packed Berlin film fest promises laughs in dark times
Penelope Cruz, Hugh Jackman, Catherine Deneuve, Richard Gere and Robert Pattinson are among the high-wattage stars due on the red carpet at the Berlin film festival, organizers said on Jan. 31 as they revealed the lineup.
The 67th Berlinale is the first major cinema showcase in Europe each year and presents nearly 400 productions from around the world.
Ergüven's film shortlisted for foreign Oscar
France's "Mustang" and Hungary's "Son of Saul" are among the nine films that have made it onto a shortlist in the contest for the foreign-language Oscar, Academy Awards organizers said late Dec. 17.
The nine films, seven of them from Europe, one from Colombia and one from Jordan, were selected from 81 submissions.

Antalya Mayor Menderes Türel has said people wearing t-shirts and jeans instead of a suit and tie would not be granted admittance to the Antalya International Film Festival this year, in an attempt to uphold the prestige of the event.
Deneuve guest of honor in Antalya
The Lifetime Achievement Award of the 52nd International Antalya Film Festival will be presented to a legendary actress in cinematic history, Catherine Deneuve.
According to a written statement made by the festival committee, the famous French actress, the festival's guest of honor, will receive her award at the opening ceremony of the festival to be held on Nov. 29.
