İYİ (Good) Party leader Meral Akşener has announced the newly appointed members of the party's General Administrative Board during its first gathering after the third ordinary congress held on June 24.

Cem Özdemir, Germany's new food and agriculture minister of Turkish origin, visited the presidential palace to receive his certificate of appointment on a bicycle, while other ministers arrived in black cars.

Özdemir, from the Green Party, is the first Turkish descent politician to assume a federal minister post.

Ozdemir is a senior Green politician representing the party's reformist wing whose parents came to Germany from Turkey as "guest workers" in the 1960s.

Eighteen candidates of Turkish descent have been elected as lawmakers in Germany's federal parliament, Bundestag, in the country's elections that took place on Sept. 26.

The Social Democratic Party (SPD) won the most parliamentary seats in the national elections, while Angela Merkel's conservative CDU/CSU bloc came in second, preliminary official results showed on Sept. 27.

Two weeks after winning elections with a reduced majority, Chancellor Angela Merkel agreed on Sunday to limit Germany’s refugee intake in a bid to unite her conservative camp ahead of tough coalition talks to form a new government.

Fourteen Turkish-origin German citizens were elected to Germany's Bundestag in the Sept. 24 general elections.

According to the temporary initial results, Aydan Özoğuz, Metin Hakverdi, Mahmut Özdemir, Cansel Kızıltepe, Gülistan Yüksel and Elvan Korkmaz were elected on the ranks of the Social Democrats (SPD).

The Bundestag, the parliament of Germany, a country that is one of the biggest economies in the world… I had been here years ago but I was only able to see the top part, where only visitors are allowed. This Sunday, for the first time, I had the opportunity to go right into the heart of the building. 

Apparently the reactions to Germany's approval of the genocide resolution will not come to an end. Reactions are at every level and unfortunately they are spreading in waves.  

A personal police guard has been given to a Turkish-origin German politician who has received multiple death threats after the Bundestag's approval of a resolution recognizing the World War I-era killings of Anatolian Armenians at the hands of Ottomans as "genocide."
