Istanbul to host new int’l art fair ‘Artcontact’
Istanbul will host a new international contemporary art fair called '"Artcontact" between May 31 and June 6 at the Avrasya Arts Center.
Atis, the company that has been organizing the ArtAnkara Contemporary Art Fair in the capital for seven years, will organize the Artcontact Contemporary Art Fair this year.

Turkey seals deal for 60 mln more doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine
Turkey has finalized a deal to buy 60 million more doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine, with an option for an additional 30 million doses.
"This second supply agreement brings the total number of doses to be supplied to Turkey to up to 120 million, all of which will be delivered in 2021," according to a statement issued by BioNTech on May 20.

3 Turks to compete in 2021 Australian Open
Three Turkish tennis players will compete in the 2021 Australian Open's qualifying stage with drawings for the first round in the men's and women's category held on Jan. 9.
Çağla Büyükakçay and Pemra Özgen will be on court to play in the first round in the women's competition.
Cem İlkel will appear in the men's qualifiers.
The qualifying phase will be held Jan. 10-13.

Digital Stage at Zorlu PSM
In Zorlu PSM's new online series, titled Digital Stage, sections of the theater's cult works are interpreted from today's perspective and presented to the audience on its YouTube channel. In the premiere to be held today, Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu and Damla Sönmez will play a short part of Shakespeare's most staged piece "Hamlet."

First festival of 2021, Festtogether to be held in January
Turkey's first sustainable music festival, Festtogether, which was organized on May 9 to support the needs that emerged after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, is now preparing to support the field of culture and arts, one of the most damaged sectors in the pandemic.
The festival will be held on Jan. 2 and 3, 2021, as the first festival of the new year.
Anti-tobacco campaigner professor dies of COVID-19
Dr. Orhan Kural, an academic who was most famous as a campaigner against tobacco use, died in a hospital in Istanbul due to the coronavirus on Dec. 23. He was 70.
Kural was admitted to hospital on Nov. 28 and had been receiving treatment in an intensive care unit since Dec. 9.

400-year-old lost decoration art unearthed in Ottoman palace
An example of classical period decoration called "saz-style" has been found on the vaulted ceiling in the fourth courtyard of Istanbul's iconic Topkapı Palace, the former seat of the Ottoman sultans and their retinues, during a restoration work that has been ongoing for five months.
CNR Book Fair focuses on Dardanelles Battle
The 2nd CNR Book Fair will be held between Feb. 27 and March 8 at the CNR Expo Center in Istanbul's Ye?ilköy neighborhood, with the Battle of the Dardenelles a key theme of the fair on its centenary.
CNR Holding Fair Management Group President Cem ?enel said this year's fair would feature an exhibition displaying previously unseen photos of the war.
